The Perez parents are experiencing areas of transition during middle adulthood. Luis and Maria had just moved to a new country, are pregnant and are in financial stressors. Moving from Argentina to the U.S. was the beginning of the stress. They had to help their family adjust to the move and not only themselves. Then Luis father had passed which was emotionally draining for the entire family. Beginning a business is a financial burden upon this family. They were comfortable when living in Argentina and now in the U.S. they are starting over.

Luis has just been diagnosed with a sickness and his father just passed away. The stress build of of those two can reflect how much he will be able to pay attention and take care of his family. Especially since he is unable to take care of his new business his thoughts might be on other things. He has also been putting a lot of pressure on his son, and it seems like he has not had much of a close relationship with him. With that being said that could greatly affect his business and future of the family without putting his sons concerns into consideration. Maria is pregnant again and feels like she doesn’t have anyone to talk to. The stress of pregnancy, transition of moving, her husband being sick and the development of her children can greatly affect the baby inside her womb.

According to Erikson, tasks of ego integrity reflects the actions toward social cause. Luis and Maria need to take responsibility as parents and care givers within their family. Luis needs to seek pshycial health to help him take care of himself. Maria needs to seek mental help, she is becoming depressed and feels like she doesn’t have anyone to talk to. Together, if they can seek help they will be able to take control of their situation and financial issues one by one and remain strong for their family.

The family was not in a great economic state coming over to the United States. They have also decided to take on a huge responsibility by starting a business from the bottom. Outside of their family system they don’t have any connections for seeking help. Along with the many children they have currently they will be bringing another to the world shortly. It will be difficult for them to stay economically stable taking care of many children, themselves and their mother. Luis and Maria will need to find soon how to find an income to finically take care of their family.
