1. What Psychological systems are useful in assessing Raul Salazar’s case?

2. Is Raul experiencing any difficulties in his emotions, attitudes or perceptual abilities?
Raul seems to be having difficulties expressing his emotions. With his others constant nervousness and his father’s strict housing rules Raul seems to be emotionally confused. He has trouble focusing in class which can be a factor from his home life. With the lack of attention he is receiving at home, it is obvious by his teachers. His capability to keep focused is an issue that needs to be addressed.
3. Does Raul have problems with concentration or attention? What is the difference?
It appears that Raul has more problems with keeping attention than concentration. His teachers report that he has issues following directions and staying still in his seat. In the smaller school he was at before where the student to teacher ratio was much smaller he was academically achieving more and was very apt in vocabulary.
4. Would it be reasonable to automatically say that Raul has ADD or ADHD?
Why or why not? It would be easy to assume Raul has attention problems we cannot assume he has a disorder. His home life must be taken into consideration while he is a child still developing. Before he moved, he was academically successful with fewer attention problems.
5. Are the reported activity levels a function of problems with behavior or emotions?
Raul’s activity levels function from problems with behavior and emotions. I believe that Raul is having a hard time expressing emotion from the extreme emotions both of his parents portray towards him. And, I see the behavior is also a problem that is closely related to his functioning levels. He has trouble focusing, following directions and academically enhancing.
